What to look for in a wine...

What to look for - from Dan Badock

"Upfront, approachable fruit, wonderful fresh berries on taste...."

For those of you who are not knowledgeable about wine, here is your chance to learn more from a Sommelier.

Q. What's that all about?

A. Someone who is in the restaurant business, orders and maintains the wines sold in the restaurant and usually has extensive knowledge about wine and food pairings.

Dan has become educated through seminars conducted by two Master Sommeliers, and completed his test in 2004. In addition, he has traveled for tours and tastings at famous chateaux in Burgundy, Bordeaux, and the Loire Valley in France and California's Napa Valley wineries. He has continued to travel and remain current with wine tours , tastings, and educational tastings.

His comments on our Featured Wine Trinchero Day Break Block'05 Merlot :

" high level, pleasant finish, good representation of Merlot. Not overwhelmed with wood, aged 'maybe' 6 months unlike 12+ months with Cabernet"

Merlot is easy to grow and the first grape to harvest in red wine varietals. It grows beautifully and this Daybreak block is a good representation.

Diane's Featured Dessert

We've always been known for our Amish Cheese Pie, but now we're making Mini Amish in muffin pans. As well as these delectable hand - dipped and covered brownies. Lighter than a regular cheesecake, with a sweet sour cream layer, and almond flavor.
And then....Diane Badock tops it off with a raspberry sauce drizzle. For only $2.25 a piece, you can mix and match and everyone at your table can nibble!

History about stain glass and suits of armor

The stain glass windows in the fireplace room came from a Lutheran church torn down on the north side of the city , Holy Cross Church. The first stain glass window in the room is saint Engelbert, and the other window is Longinus the Roman Centurion on Calvary that speared Christ.

The two suits of Armor were made on the island of Malta off the coast of Spain. This is what we were told when my family purchased the building in 1977.
